Hollywood’s Burning is a show intro to a fictional series that I made to develop my creative editing skills. The concept is inspired by the background song, “The Melting of the Sun” by St. Vincent. I sourced video clips and other assets online to create original compositions, overlay sequences, and transitions in Adobe After Effects.

Hollywood’s Burning was an exercise in applying and developing my skills in Adobe After Effects. I outlined what I wanted the finished product to be, noted what I knew and what I needed to learn, and made it happen. That meant, as one example, spending hours manually creating this particulate burn-away transition because After Effects’ presets didn’t quite look like what I had in mind. (And even more hours troubleshooting when it wouldn’t render properly!)
